Musicians, DJ Among 10 Killed in Bahamas Plane Crash

Ten people, including several musicians and a disc jockey, died in a small plane crash in the Bahamas on Friday afternoon. The Union of Musicians and Artists Bahamian (BMEU) confirmed the tragic loss, stating that "some of the most talented and dynamic members of our entertainment community" were among the victims.

The BMEU extended its deepest condolences to the families and friends of those who perished. The union highlighted that the deceased included members of the group The Pond Band and a DJ, whose "passion, dedication and skill touched the lives of so many and helped enrich the net culture of the Bahamas."

The aircraft, operated by Flaming Air, departed from Lynden Pindling International Airport en route to San Andros around 2:00 PM local time. It crashed in a wooded area west of the North Andros airport. Rescue teams and police officers responded to the scene, finding the plane engulfed in flames.

Initially, one 24-year-old man was found alive and received immediate medical attention, but he later died from his injuries at a hospital. Authorities recovered nine other bodies from the wreckage. The remains were transported to San Andros for safekeeping before being moved to a forensic clinic for identification. The Bahamas Air Accident Investigation Authority has dispatched a team to conduct an independent investigation into the cause of the crash.
