Musk's current net worth stands at $273 billion, largely due to his role as CEO of Tesla. However, his wealth is expected to surge dramatically with the anticipated initial public offering (IPO) of his aerospace company, SpaceX. If SpaceX's IPO proceeds as planned next week, it could add an estimated $841 billion to Musk's fortune.

SpaceX's IPO is projected to value the company at $1.77 trillion, with Musk holding nearly half of its shares. Combined, his holdings in Tesla and SpaceX are expected to propel his net worth past the $1 trillion mark. It is important to note that this wealth is largely in the form of stock and options, representing potential value rather than readily available cash.

CNN highlighted the sheer scale of this potential fortune by comparing it to national economies. With over $1.11 trillion, Musk's wealth exceeds the GDP of 20 countries, including Taiwan ($977 billion), Ireland ($779 billion), Sweden ($760 billion), Singapore ($660 billion), and his native South Africa ($480 billion). The report also pointed out that even spending $1 million every hour would take over a century to deplete a trillion dollars.
