Muslim World League Conference Promotes Faith, Science, and Ethical AI

The Muslim World League (MWL) convened an international conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, focusing on the intersection of faith, science, and contemporary evidence. The forum brought together religious scholars, academics, researchers, and community leaders from various nations.

MWL Secretary-General Sheikh Mohammed Al-Issa officially opened the conference and launched a new multilingual scientific journal, "Scientific Miracles in the Holy Qur'an and the Noble Prophetic Sunnah Magazine." This publication aims to broaden public access to studies connecting faith-based values with modern scientific developments.

Discussions centered on the relationship between religion and science, emphasizing how contemporary scientific findings can reinforce faith and address intellectual challenges. A final communiqué affirmed faith as a fundamental human need crucial for civilizational progress, social harmony, and moral development. Participants also acknowledged the significant historical contributions of Islamic civilization to science and ethics.

In light of rapid technological advancements, including artificial intelligence (AI), the conference participants advocated for the wise and ethical use of technology to cultivate a generation proficient in knowledge and grounded in strong moral and spiritual foundations. Malaysian House of Representatives Speaker Ahmad Muzani stressed the importance of aligning technological progress with character building and national spirit for the greater benefit of humanity. International Islamic thinker Othman Hasan noted that dialogue between religion and science is complementary, not contradictory, in understanding reality and advancing civilization, calling for strengthened collaboration among scholars and scientists.
