Muslim World League works to build understanding, address Islam misconceptions

The Muslim World League (MWL) has been dedicated to building understanding among Muslims and clarifying misconceptions about Islam since its inception in 1962. This mission continues under the leadership of Secretary-General Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Abdul Karim Al-Issa, who assumed the role in 2016.

Sheikh Al-Issa emphasized MWL's commitment to unifying Muslim stances on critical contemporary issues, particularly those requiring scholarly input. As an independent international organization comprising Islamic scholars, thinkers, and youth, MWL strives to advance its mission in Muslim-majority countries and minority contexts alike. The league aims to raise awareness among Muslim populations and inoculate youth against negative ideologies.

To combat negative perceptions, MWL works to present a true image of Islam and address ambiguities or misunderstandings stemming from ignorance. They engage through cyberspace, lectures, and participation in global think tanks. MWL has delivered lectures at prestigious universities worldwide, discussing key documents like the Mecca Charter and initiatives for inter-sectarian bridge-building. The Mecca Charter has been endorsed by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for use in educational, cultural, and religious institutions.

Beyond intellectual discourse, MWL actively conducts humanitarian missions worldwide. These efforts are inclusive, providing aid without discrimination based on religion or ethnicity. MWL collaborates on humanitarian projects with international organizations, including United Nations bodies and local governments in regions where aid is delivered.
