My brother won’t accept Tinubu’s appointment - Isaac Fayose

Isaac Fayose, the younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, has publicly stated that his elder brother will reject his recent appointment as Chairman of the Board of the Rural Electrification Agency. Isaac described the position as a "yeye appointment," a Yoruba phrase implying worthlessness or a joke.

Isaac expressed his disappointment in a Facebook post, arguing that his brother, a former two-time governor, merited a more significant role within the current administration. He drew a comparison to former presidential aide Reno Omokri, who was appointed ambassador, questioning why Fayose was only given a chairmanship of a parastatal.

They said they gave my brother DG, DG, not a minister, not ambassador. They said they gave him DG, head of parastatal, chairman of a committee. They no see give him minister, they no give him ambassador.

Adding a layer of intrigue, Isaac alleged that the appointment was a political maneuver to "enter that family" after Peter Obi, the former Labour Party presidential candidate, visited his residence. He suggested the former governor should instead pass the position to one of his children, as the chairmanship did not reflect his political stature.

This development follows President Bola Tinubu's appointment of Ayo Fayose to the Rural Electrification Agency board, part of broader appointments to 10 federal agencies. Notably, Fayose had previously declared in October 2025 that he had no interest in serving in the Tinubu administration, even stating he would "rather be at home" than work for the APC-led government.
