‘My Husband Is Secure’: Mo Bimpe Hits Back at Critics

Mo Bimpe has pushed back against social media criticism after a short video from a Lagos film premiere prompted speculation about her marriage.

The clip, recorded at the September 2, 2026 premiere of *A Mama Deola Wedding Story*, showed Bimpe seated between actor Jide Awobona and her husband, Lateef Adedimeji. She leaned on Awobona’s shoulder while looking at something on her phone. Some viewers interpreted the interaction as suspicious and suggested Adedimeji looked uncomfortable.

Bimpe addressed the reaction in an Instagram story on Sunday. She said it was striking that an ordinary conversation between friends had been turned into something questionable.

The fact that so many of you found that interaction strange says more about the relationships you’re used to than it does about mine.

“Not every marriage is built on fear, insecurity, and constant monitoring. Some marriages are built on trust, friendship, respect, and confidence,” she wrote. She added that the reaction said more about the relationships viewers were accustomed to than about her own marriage.
