Nabota Sales Exceed 1 Trillion Won, Illegal Distribution Surges; Daewoong Pharmaceutical Strengthens AI Monitoring and Distribution Control

Daewoong Pharmaceutical is intensifying its efforts to combat the illegal distribution of its botulinum toxin product, Nabota, following its sales exceeding 1 trillion won. The company announced on the 23rd that it is expanding its genuine product distribution network and employing AI monitoring to track abnormal distribution routes and ensure patient safety. Since January, Daewoong Pharmaceutical has enforced a permanent business suspension policy for distributors confirmed to have engaged in illegal distribution. The company has distributed related notices to domestic clinics and hospitals and revised its transaction contracts accordingly. Internationally, Daewoong Pharmaceutical collaborates with local partners and regulatory agencies to identify and block unofficial sales channels. Recently, the company uncovered evidence of two bottles of Nabota intended for the domestic market being illicitly exported. By tracing the manufacturing batch numbers, Daewoong Pharmaceutical identified the involved medical institution and terminated its business relationship. During its own monitoring, the company also identified instances of products being rejected by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), suspecting these were imported through unauthorized channels. A company representative stated that officially exported products are supplied in compliance with FDA regulations and have no import rejection history, implying that the rejected products entered the U.S. through abnormal routes.
