This move came just two days after Argentina's loss to Spain in the 2026 World Cup final, a perceived jab at Lionel Scaloni's team.

However, Tigre responded decisively on the field. The Argentine club secured a commanding 3-0 victory in the first leg of their Copa Sudamericana playoff tie. Goals from Jalil Elías, Ignacio Russo, and Elías Cabrera gave Tigre a significant advantage heading into the second leg.

The match, played in Montevideo, saw Nacional's attempt at psychological warfare backfire spectacularly.
