Nadi qualifies for BOG, Nadroga out

Nadi Football Association has officially qualified for the prestigious Battle of the Giants (BOG) tournament, marking their first appearance in a Fiji Football Association competition this year. The team secured their place among the top eight following the conclusion of round 13 in the Extra Premier League (EPL) yesterday.

Even with round 14 still to be played, Nadi, known as the "jetsetters," has accumulated 14 points, ensuring their safety. The ninth-ranked team, Nadroga, currently has 10 points. Should Nadroga win their upcoming EPL game, they would still not be able to surpass Nadi's points total, guaranteeing Nadi's spot in the BOG.

The qualification scenario would have been more dramatic if Nadroga had secured a victory against Tailevu Naitasiri yesterday. That match ended in a 2-2 draw, which ultimately sealed Nadroga's fate. Despite featuring in the Fiji FACT tournament, Nadroga, along with Tailevu Naitasiri, will miss out on the BOG.

The qualified teams for the Battle of the Giants are Labasa, hosts Ba, Rewa, Lautoka, Nasinu, Suva, Navua, and Nadi. The tournament is scheduled to take place from September 4th to 6th, with the group stages held at Govind Park in Ba.
