Nadra official goes missing in Karachi, family approaches police for his recovery

The family of a National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) official has reported him missing in Karachi, approaching the police with an application for his recovery. Fayyaz Ahmed Janjhi, an assistant director at Nadra, has not been seen or heard from since Monday evening, July 20.

According to the application submitted to the Sindh Inspector General of Police, Janjhi left his office at Ayesha Manzil around 6 p.m. on Monday. His family has been unable to contact him, as his phone appears to be switched off. Colleagues confirmed he left the office as usual, but he never reached his home.

But he did not reach home.

Janjhi's elder brother, Riaz Sohail, stated that the family has no known enmities with anyone, adding to the mystery surrounding his disappearance. The case has been assigned to Central Senior Superintendent of Police Imran Khan. The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has also voiced its concern, calling on the Sindh government to intensify efforts to ensure Janjhi's safe return.

HRCP is deeply concerned to learn that Fayaz Janjhi, a Nadra officer and son of HRCP council member Sohail Sangi, has been missing since yesterday. We demand that the Sindh government expedite their efforts to recover Mr Janjhi safely.
