Nahdlatul Ulama Congress Set for August 2026 in Jombang; Participants Urged to Embrace Event with Joy

The 35th Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Congress is set to convene at Pondok Pesantren Tambak Beras in Jombang, East Java, from August 27 to 31, 2026. The selection of Tambak Beras as the host site followed extensive discussions and consensus among the NU Central Board (PBNU) leadership.

Through several limited meetings, the joint meeting of the Nahdlatul Ulama Central Board finally designated Pondok Pesantren Tambak Beras Jombang, founded by Kiai Wahab Hasbullah, as the host of the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama Congress, which will be held on August 27, 2026.

Saifullah Yusuf, also known as Gus Ipul, who chairs the Organizing Committee (OC), emphasized the importance of unity and enthusiasm among all regional and branch management boards (PWNU and PCNU) participating in the congress. He stated that the decision was reached through a deliberative process involving diverse perspectives, and he called for a spirit of togetherness to ensure the event yields optimal outcomes for the organization.

We invite all regional and branch management boards as congress participants to prepare and succeed in this congress with togetherness, with joy, so that it produces the best decisions for the organization in the future.

Gus Ipul expressed gratitude to all participants in the joint meeting for their constructive input. The committee will now focus on consolidating preparations with the East Java PWNU, Jombang PCNU, and surrounding pesantren to finalize arrangements for accommodation, facilities, and transportation. Jombang's prior experience hosting the NU Congress in 2015 provides a solid foundation for managing this upcoming event.
