Najgee brings different flavor with soca-influenced ‘Hey Gyal’

Jamaican deejay Najgee is exploring new sonic territories with his latest release, 'Hey Gyal.' The track, produced by renowned reggae session drummer Kirk Bennett under Kirkledove Records, features Najgee's vocals over a soca-influenced beat. This release, which dropped in June, represents Najgee's deliberate effort to step outside his established dancehall comfort zone.

Having launched his professional career nine years ago, Najgee views 'Hey Gyal' as an opportunity to showcase his versatility. He believes that standing out from his peers is crucial in the music industry. "The difference between Najgee’s sound and other artistes is that when yuh listen to my songs, you get a different vibe from each one. It is very important to be unique because music itself is," he stated.

Najgee found a collaborative spirit in Bennett, a producer known for his work with artists like Mr Vegas and Elephant Man. "I am always willing to explore new riddims and try new flows," said Najgee, who hails from Stony Hill in St Andrew. 'Hey Gyal' offers a distinct flavor compared to his recent hardcore dancehall tracks, 'Come sid Dung' and '10 Outta.'

This marks Najgee's second venture into soca-style music, following his 2022 contribution 'Party Time' to Most Wanted Records' Inviting EP. His willingness to experiment with different genres highlights his artistic ambition and desire to offer a diverse listening experience to his audience.
