Nantou Beekeepers Receive Drought Relief Aid

Taiwan's Nantou County is offering financial aid to beekeepers struggling with the effects of a severe drought that depleted nectar sources earlier this year. Each bee colony can receive a subsidy of NT$550 as the government steps in to support the affected agricultural sector.

The drought, which persisted from January to February, created critical shortages of nectar, the primary food source for bees. This environmental challenge led to significant difficulties for local beekeepers, impacting their production and livelihoods. The agricultural department has recognized the severity of the situation and approved the cash relief program.

Beekeepers in Nantou County are urged to apply for this assistance. The application period runs from July 31 to August 13, and interested individuals must submit their requests at their local government offices. This measure aims to mitigate the economic losses incurred by the beekeeping community due to the adverse weather conditions.
