Taoyuan Airport promotes sustainable development, partners build low-carbon gateway

Taoyuan International Airport is actively pursuing sustainable development, working with its partners to establish itself as a low-carbon gateway. This initiative aligns with global trends toward carbon neutrality and environmental responsibility.

A notable example of this commitment is the "Brilliant Glazed Experience Pool" in Terminal 2. Constructed from 6.5 tons of recycled glass, it transforms into approximately 17.4 million pieces of glaze. This installation serves as a tangible demonstration of the circular economy in action, allowing travelers to experience Taiwan's dedication to green innovation firsthand.

Ever Rich has demonstrated its determination to implement sustainable governance for two consecutive years by completing carbon inventories and passing third-party verification. This sets an example for airport partners, and we hope more partners will join us in enhancing Taoyuan Airport's sustainable competitiveness.

Ever Rich Duty Free, a key partner at the airport, has taken significant steps by completing an ISO 14064-1 greenhouse gas inventory for its operations. The certification was verified by BSI (British Standards Institution), a recognized international third-party auditing body. This achievement underscores Ever Rich's commitment to Taoyuan Airport's Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) policies.

ISO 14064-1 can help companies understand their current greenhouse gas emissions, improve information transparency and credibility, and serve as an important foundation for subsequent carbon reduction management. Ever Rich also provides a good model for the service industry in promoting low-carbon transformation.

This marks the second consecutive year Ever Rich has independently completed a carbon inventory for its airport facilities. The company has implemented various carbon reduction measures, including paperless operations, reducing single-use items, and encouraging passengers to bring their own utensils and use reusable bags. These efforts have previously earned them accolades in the airport's sustainability action competitions.

Taoyuan Airport Company's Deputy General Manager, Li Chun-te, praised Ever Rich's dedication, highlighting it as a model for other airport partners. He expressed hope for increased collaboration to enhance the airport's overall sustainability competitiveness. BSI representatives affirmed that ISO 14064-1 provides a crucial foundation for carbon reduction management by enhancing transparency and credibility in reporting greenhouse gas emissions.
