Nantou County Government's High Bonus Scholarships Effective in Retaining Students; Multiple High Schools Welcome High-Scoring Freshmen to Study Locally

Nantou County is successfully retaining its top academic talent through a generous scholarship program, encouraging high-achieving junior high graduates to pursue their secondary education within the county. This initiative by the Nantou County Government has significantly boosted enrollment rates in local high schools and vocational schools.

The "Xue Li Xue Li Excellent Junior High School Graduates Studying in Nantou County High Schools and Vocational Schools" scholarship offers financial incentives for students who score well on the national junior high school entrance exam. Graduates achieving 4A6+ and choosing to study locally receive NT$30,000, while those with 5A or higher can receive up to NT$100,000 for the highest scores (5A10+).

This program has shown tangible results. National Zhongxing High School reported a 98% enrollment rate, with 12 students qualifying for scholarships ranging from NT$30,000 to NT$70,000. Students like Zhang Qing-ling and Lin Ke-ru, who scored 5A9+ and 5A6+ respectively, cited the scholarship as a key factor, alongside the convenience of not having to commute and the availability of the "Star Plan" for university admissions.

Other institutions also benefited. National Chi Nan University Affiliated High School and Zhushan High School each welcomed one student with a top score of 5A10+, earning them the NT$100,000 scholarship. National Shuili Vocational High School excitedly reported its first-ever enrollment of a local student with a 5A6+ score, a testament to the scholarship's effectiveness. Overall, enrollment rates across Nantou's public high schools and vocational schools have remained strong, with many exceeding 90%.
