Nantou passion fruit yield down 40% due to weather; cash aid applications due August 4

Local officials, including Puli Township Mayor Liao Chih-cheng and Democratic Progressive Party candidate for Nantou County Magistrate Wen Shih-cheng, have assessed the damage firsthand. Following their assessment and appeals for support, the Ministry of Agriculture has responded by announcing a cash subsidy program for the affected farmers. The subsidy is set at NT$19,000 per hectare to help mitigate the financial impact of the reduced harvest.
