National Assembly Chairman Pays Respects to Martyrs at Ho Chi Minh City Park

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man led a delegation to Le Thi Rieng Park in Ho Chi Minh City on July 26 to pay respects to fallen soldiers and visit teams collecting their remains. The solemn occasion saw high-ranking officials, including Politburo member and Standing Committee of the Central Party Committee's Secretariat Tran Cam Tu, and Politburo member and Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Bui Thi Minh Hoai, participate in the ceremony.

The delegation offered incense and flowers at the monument of former General Secretary Tran Phu, honoring him as the first General Secretary of the Party and an outstanding student of President Ho Chi Minh. They also paid tribute at the memorial house for martyrs who died during the 1968 Tet Offensive, as well as the resting place for martyrs Le Thi Rieng and Tran Van Kieu within the park.

Chairman Man and the delegation also inspected a newly excavated trench for collecting martyrs' remains, based on witness information. The visit underscored the nation's deep gratitude for the millions of Vietnamese who sacrificed their youth and lives for national independence and reunification. The sacrifices were described as a testament to revolutionary heroism, fostering patriotism and the will for independence and self-reliance across generations.
