National Coach Thomas Christiansen Attends LPF Match as Plaza Amador Dominates Alianza FC

Thomas Christiansen, the head coach of the Panama national football team, made an appearance at the Rommel Fernández Gutiérrez stadium to watch Plaza Amador secure a commanding 4-2 victory against Alianza FC in the fourth round of the Liga Panameña de Fútbol (LPF) Apertura 2026 tournament.

Christiansen's presence in Panama comes just over a month before the national team embarks on an Asian tour for a series of friendly matches. The Spanish-Danish coach had recently been in Barcelona, Spain, taking a short break after Panama's participation in the 2026 World Cup.

Earlier on July 13, the Panamanian Football Federation announced its decision to continue the "sporting project" initiated in 2020 with Christiansen at the helm of the senior men's national team. This extension secures his position for a third cycle, with a clear focus on qualifying for the 2030 World Cup.

During the match, Plaza Amador's goals were scored by Everardo Rose (12th minute), Eric Davis (40th), Yoameth Murillo (45+1'), and Héctor Ríos (66th). Alianza FC managed to score through Carlos Rodríguez (42nd) and Bayron Walters (50th).

In another LPF match, Herrera FC and Veraguas United played to a 2-2 draw in Parita. Carlos Hernández scored twice for Veraguas United, while David Castillo and Ronnie Villarreal netted goals for Herrera FC.
