National Interconnected System incident affects electricity supply in Colón, Etesa reports

The province of Colón experienced disruptions to its electricity supply on Saturday, July 25, due to an incident within the National Interconnected System. Empresa de Transmisión Eléctrica, S.A. (Etesa) confirmed the disruption and stated that its technical teams are actively working to identify the cause and reinstate the service.

Etesa communicated the situation via social media, assuring the public that updates would be provided once the system was normalized. The company's technical personnel are currently conducting necessary verifications to address the event and facilitate the restoration of power.

This incident occurs shortly after Panama implemented measures to curb electricity exports, specifically limiting the outflow of 200 megawatts. This decision was made to safeguard the stability and integrity of the national electrical system, highlighting ongoing challenges in maintaining a consistent power supply.
