National team jerseys flying off shelves amid 'extreme pressure' on stores

Norway's new home football jerseys are flying off the shelves, with demand so intense that many sports retailers are struggling to keep them in stock. The jerseys, launched in late March, continue to be a massive hit, with stores reporting they are "torn away in a flash" even two and a half months later.

"There is simply no access to the new Norwegian national team jerseys," said Jan Christian Thommesen, communications director at XXL, a major sports retailer. Sport Holding AS, which owns brands like Intersport, Sport1, and Anton Sport, is also facing difficulties in meeting the demand.

Torshov Sport in Oslo received a delivery of around 400 Norway jerseys on Friday, which were reportedly snapped up within hours on Saturday. "After the store opened, there was a mad sprint into the store for 70 people. They grabbed all the Norway jerseys," said store employee Mats Olsson to VG. He noted that medium sizes sold out in under an hour, with small sizes following later, leaving only a few large sizes available.

Store manager Anders Lilleberg described the demand as the "best pressure ever" for a single jersey. While the supplier, Nike, has made large deliveries, Lilleberg stated they have received fewer jerseys than ordered so far. "I'm not going to throw Nike under the bus. We have received fewer jerseys than we have ordered so far. I still believe we will get everything we have ordered. Hopefully before the World Cup," he told VG, adding, "They are probably doing their best. Norway and Haaland have never been hotter, and he is also a Nike ambassador."
