NATO Renews Nuclear Plans, Modernizing Deterrence Capacity

Defense ministers present at the meeting emphasized that NATO's strategic nuclear forces remain the "highest level of assurance" for the security of the allies. The statement noted these forces are a fundamental component of NATO's extended deterrence architecture. The ministers resolved to continue developing NATO's nuclear deterrence mission. This involves modernizing the alliance's nuclear capabilities, reinforcing nuclear planning capacity, and making new adaptations based on current security needs. NATO indicated these measures will increase the alliance's capacity to protect its security interests.
