Naucalpan's Primero de Mayo Avenue Partially Closed for Water Leak Repairs; Alternate Routes Advised

Repair work on a significant water leak on Avenida Primero de Mayo in Naucalpan, Mexico, continues to cause partial road closures, with authorities advising motorists to seek alternative routes. The operation, led by the Organismo de Agua Potable, Alcantarillado y Saneamiento de Naucalpan (Oapas), is focused on fixing a 10-inch pipe discovered within a larger 36-inch main.

Using georadar technology, Oapas personnel located a second potable water line running parallel to the damaged pipe. This discovery necessitated an expansion of the repair maneuvers to ensure a comprehensive fix and prevent future issues, such as road subsidence. The agency emphasized that the intervention is crucial to avoid subsequent problems with the roadway.

Currently, lateral lanes of Avenida Primero de Mayo are reduced in the direction of Toluca. Once the repairs are complete, the asphalt surface will be replaced. Oapas has confirmed that the work zone is adequately signaled, and municipal traffic personnel are present to assist drivers and pedestrians. As of Wednesday, no traffic accidents have been reported in connection with the ongoing repairs.
