Nauluvatu Village receives upgraded water supply system

Residents of Nauluvatu Village in Fiji's Naitasiri province are celebrating the completion of a new water supply system. The project, valued at over $212,000, provides reliable access to clean water for more than 300 villagers.

For years, the community struggled with inconsistent water supply due to outdated infrastructure, which caused frequent leaks and disruptions. The new system features a new dam, a storage tank, 1.6 kilometers of pipelines, water purification facilities, standpipes, and household connections.

Minister for Transport, Meteorological Services, and Public Works Ro Filipe Tuisawau highlighted the project's significance beyond mere infrastructure. "Reliable water supports drinking, cooking, washing, sanitation and hygiene, while also strengthening the community’s resilience during changing weather conditions," he stated. The investment is expected to not only improve supply reliability but also reduce costly repairs for the aging system.
