Naver Pay Brings Face-Scan Payments to Jecheon and Busan Film Festivals

Festivalgoers at two South Korean film events will be able to pay with their faces, as Naver Pay brings its Face Sign service to the Jecheon International Music and Film Festival and the Busan International Film Festival.

Npay said it will support both festivals with Npay Connect, an offline integrated payment terminal. Visitors can use cards or QR codes through the terminals, or pay with Face Sign without a smartphone or wallet.

At Jecheon, which runs through the 8th, shoppers at the ticket booth and official merchandise store can receive Npay points when they pay with Npay QR or Face Sign using Npay points or money. Purchases of at least 20,000 won at the merchandise store qualify for 3,000 points, while ticket-booth purchases of at least 10,000 won qualify for 1,000 points. Each benefit can be earned up to three times.

Face Sign payments are fast and convenient without a wallet or smartphone, so demand is high at festivals where large numbers of visitors arrive at once.

The Busan International Film Festival, scheduled for October 6 to 15, will offer visitors access to Npay Connect at its officially operated merchandise store. Npay said it will disclose details of the related promotion later.

An Npay representative said Face Sign offers fast and convenient payments without a wallet or smartphone, making it useful at festivals where large crowds arrive at once. The company said it plans to expand Npay Connect and Face Sign to more events as well as individual merchants.
