Navone eyes second title in under two months in Geneva

Mariano Navone is enjoying a career resurgence, having secured his first ATP tour title in Bucharest earlier this year. The Argentine player, who reached a career-high ranking of 29th in mid-2024, dedicated his Bucharest victory to his family, recalling childhood dreams of emulating the "Legion" of Argentine tennis stars.

Navone now has an opportunity to claim his second title in less than two months as he faces American Learner Tien in the Geneva final. Tien, a 20-year-old left-hander from California with Vietnamese roots, has been steadily climbing the ATP rankings. The two players have a 1-1 head-to-head record from their previous encounters in 2025.

Navone's path to the Geneva final included a remarkable comeback victory against compatriot Marco Trungelliti and subsequent wins over strong opponents like Cameron Norrie, Jaume Munar, and Casper Ruud. This success follows a challenging period where Navone battled physical issues and a demanding points defense, which saw his ranking drop to 99th in May last year.

After parting ways with coach Andrés Dellatorre, Navone began a new chapter with Mancini, the former Argentine Davis Cup captain. This partnership has yielded positive results, including a Challenger 175 title in Cap Cana and his significant victory in Bucharest.
