Nawagamuwa Murder Linked to Drug Deal Dispute

A murder in Nawagamuwa, Sri Lanka, is believed to be connected to a drug trafficking operation, with initial police investigations revealing a dispute over a significant sum of money.

Authorities allege that the victim was shot and killed because he failed to pay 1.5 million Sri Lankan rupees for drugs supplied by a man identified as "Kung Fu Ruwan," who reportedly directs drug operations from abroad. The police stated that a contract was issued for 800,000 rupees to carry out the killing.

The incident occurred on July 16 on Samanala Uyana Road in Nawagamuwa. The Homagama Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau has arrested two individuals in connection with the shooting. One of the arrested suspects is reportedly a close relative of "Kung Fu Ruwan" and acted as a money collector for the drug network.

Police have also taken into custody a motorcycle believed to have been used in the commission of the crime. Further investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the drug ring's operations and the individuals involved.
