NBA commends Kaduna governor for strengthening judiciary

The Kaduna chapter of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has lauded Governor Uba Sani for his significant efforts in bolstering the state's judiciary and enhancing justice administration.

The association specifically highlighted the extensive renovation and rehabilitation of the High Court complex, noting that these improvements will create a better working environment, enhance mobility, and boost the overall performance of judicial officers. Furthermore, the NBA applauded the governor for providing 40 official vehicles to judges across the High Court, Shari’ah Court of Appeal, and Customary Court of Appeal. The restoration of robe allowances for magistrates and the payment of outstanding allowances for 2024 in 2025 were also welcomed.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Baba Lawal Aliyu, the NBA stated that these initiatives demonstrate the government's recognition of the judiciary as a vital institution for upholding the rule of law and ensuring effective justice delivery. The association believes these actions appreciate the judiciary's critical role in society.

However, the NBA also urged Governor Sani to extend similar support to the lower courts. They emphasized the need for providing official vehicles and improving facilities and working conditions for magistrates and other judicial officers at this level. The association stressed that these frontline justice providers require adequate logistical and infrastructural support to perform their duties effectively. Sustained investment across all judicial levels, the NBA concluded, would improve access to justice, reduce delays, and strengthen public confidence in the justice system.
