Veteran NBA star DeMar DeRozan is set to join the Denver Nuggets on a one-year, $3.9 million minimum contract, according to a report by ESPN's Shams Charania. The 36-year-old forward, known for his mid-range prowess, averaged 18.4 points, 4.1 assists, and 2.9 rebounds for the Sacramento Kings last season. The Kings waived DeRozan to manage their team salary cap.

DeRozan reportedly explored options with the Miami Heat, Washington Wizards, and New Orleans Pelicans before choosing Denver. He seeks an opportunity to play a significant role and compete in the Western Conference. Sources indicate that the Nuggets' front office and coaching staff actively recruited DeRozan, presenting a vision of him complementing their existing stars, Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray, as a third scoring option.

While DeRozan and the Heat had mutual interest, with Bam Adebayo reportedly maintaining contact throughout the summer, Miami ultimately focused on acquiring Klay Thompson. This decision paved the way for DeRozan's move to Denver.

DeRozan's career includes six All-Star selections and three All-NBA team nods. He ranks 18th on the NBA's all-time scoring list and fourth among active players, trailing only LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and James Harden.
