Green's decision to opt out of his previous $27.6 million player option this summer was aimed at creating salary cap flexibility for the Warriors. This move had initially positioned the team as a potential suitor for LeBron James. However, with James ultimately choosing the Philadelphia 76ers, Green and the Warriors were able to finalize their new agreement.

The new contract reportedly does not include a trade clause. At 38 years old, Stephen Curry is entering his 18th season, while the 36-year-old Green continues his long association with the franchise. Green was notably involved in trade discussions earlier this year, with the Warriors reportedly exploring a deal with the Milwaukee Bucks for Giannis Antetokounmpo, but he ultimately remained with Golden State.
