NCAA orders Nigerian airlines to cut flights when aircraft are grounded

Nigeria’s Civil Aviation Authority has ordered domestic airlines to cut back their flight operations whenever aircraft are grounded because of technical problems.

The directive is intended to avoid excessive disruption and hardship for passengers when airlines lose aircraft to maintenance or other technical issues. In aviation terminology, AOG means “aircraft on ground.”

Michael Achimugu, the NCAA’s director of public affairs and consumer protection, announced the position. The short report did not provide further details about how the reductions should be implemented.
