NDC renames headquarters as ‘Jerry John Rawlings House’

Ghana's National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially dedicated its national headquarters as the 'Jerry John Rawlings House,' a significant tribute to the party's founder and former President. The renaming ceremony took place in Accra, coinciding with the 79th birthday anniversary of the late Jerry John Rawlings.

The event, themed "From Revolution to Fourth Republic: The Rawlings Legacy," drew party members and senior government officials. President John Dramani Mahama led the unveiling of a commemorative plaque and a bust of Rawlings at the newly named building. He highlighted the renaming as an act of institutional memory, emphasizing its importance in ensuring future generations understand the sacrifices made for the party and Ghana's democracy.

Kimathi Rawlings, son of the former president, expressed his family's deep gratitude for the honor. He remarked that the naming of the headquarters is "far more than a symbolic gesture," viewing it as a fitting tribute to his father's enduring legacy, values, and sacrifices that continue to shape Ghanaian politics. Rawlings, who passed away in November 2020, had a profound impact on Ghana's modern history, having led the country first as a military ruler and later as the first President of the Fourth Republic from 1993 to 2001.
