NDDC sensitises stakeholders on procurement digitisation

In a significant move towards greater accountability and efficiency, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is embracing a digital transformation of its procurement processes. This initiative, aimed at fostering transparency and ensuring value for money, was recently highlighted in a sensitization program held for key stakeholders in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

Dr. Chuks Osuji, Director of the Procurement Department at NDDC, emphasized that the transition from a manual to a fully digitized system is crucial for modernizing the commission's operations. This reform is not merely about adopting new technology; it's about fundamentally changing how the NDDC conducts its business, moving away from the inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and potential for nepotism and illegality that often plague manual systems.

This effort is part of a broader commitment to modernised procurement practices, which reduces inefficiencies and ensures value for money.

The program, attended by government officials, procurement officers, consultants, contractors, and civil society organizations, served to educate participants on the new reforms and the electronic procurement platform. Facilitator Mrs. Comfort Taavaan-Ogolo stressed that digitization will enhance competitiveness, provide a level playing field, and build trust. This push for modernization aligns with a broader trend across Nigerian government agencies, driven by the Bureau of Public Procurement, to leverage technology for greater transparency and reduced corruption in public contracting.
