NDLEA intercepts cocaine concealed in mortar, backpack bound for China, Italy

Nigeria's National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted significant drug seizures, including cocaine concealed in a local mortar and the false bottom of a backpack. These packages were allegedly being prepared for shipment to China and Italy via a Lagos logistics company.

Operatives also made arrests and seizures in multiple states. In Rivers State, a 38-year-old suspect was apprehended with various drugs. Anambra State saw the seizure of over 3,900 kilograms of codeine syrup from a truck. In Delta State, 1.84 kilograms of "skunk" were recovered from a vehicle. Nasarawa State authorities arrested a 64-year-old man with skunk and methamphetamine.

250 grammes of cocaine were concealed in the base of a locally made mortar packed inside a carton destined for China, while another 500 grammes of cocaine were hidden in the false bottom of a backpack intended for shipment to Italy.

Further operations in Zamfara State led to the interception of a suspect allegedly carrying 7,400 tramadol tablets, suspected to be for criminal elements. The NDLEA also sustained its "War Against Drug Abuse" (WADA) campaign nationwide, conducting awareness programs in schools, religious sites, and communities. The agency's chief commended the officers involved in these operations and urged them to maintain efforts in reducing drug supply and demand.
