NDLEA intercepts cocaine hidden in mortar, backpack, arrests four

Operatives of Nigeria's National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted cocaine concealed within a local mortar and the false bottom of a backpack. The packages were intended for shipment to China and Italy via a Lagos logistics company.

250 grammes of cocaine were factory-fitted into the base of a local mortar packaged for export to China, while another 500 grammes were hidden in the false bottom of a backpack destined for Italy.

These seizures were part of multiple operations across the country that led to the arrest of four suspects. The agency reported finding various illicit substances, including cannabis, methamphetamine, swinol, tramadol, and a significant quantity of codeine syrup. In one instance, 250 grams of cocaine were found factory-fitted into the base of a mortar destined for China, while another 500 grams were discovered in a backpack headed for Italy.

The suspect was nabbed with various quantities of cannabis, cocaine, methamphetamine, swinol, tramadol and codeine syrup at the time of his arrest on Sunday, 26th July.

Further operations in Rivers, Anambra, Delta, and Nasarawa states resulted in the recovery of large amounts of cannabis, methamphetamine, and thousands of bottles of codeine syrup. A suspect in Zamfara State was also arrested with tramadol pills believed to be supplying criminal elements. The NDLEA's War Against Drug Abuse campaign continues through sensitization programs in various community settings.
