Nearly 7 Million Passengers Used Rail and LRT for Airport Access

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Group reported serving 6,201,016 passengers on its airport-connected rail and LRT services between January and May 2026. This figure encompasses various routes, including the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Commuter Line, Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) Rail, Adi Soemarmo International Airport (BIAS) Rail, Srilelawangsa Rail in North Sumatra, the South Sumatra LRT, and the Minangkabau Ekspres Rail in West Sumatra.

Of the total passengers, services in Sumatra accounted for 3,682,783, while services in Java served 2,518,233 passengers. KAI emphasized the crucial role these services play in enhancing connectivity between urban centers, residential areas, economic hubs, tourist destinations, and air transportation nodes.

In the Jabodetabek region, the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Commuter Line experienced a significant increase, serving 1,013,574 passengers. This represents a 14.78% rise compared to the 883,065 passengers recorded during the same period in 2025. KAI highlighted that this service offers a more reliable and scheduled mobility option for travelers navigating the dense urban traffic to reach Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.

The YIA Rail in Yogyakarta served 1,129,627 passengers, comprising 763,216 on the regular service and 366,411 on the express service. This marks a 1.06% increase from the previous year. Similarly, the BIAS Rail in Central and East Java served 375,032 passengers, an increase of 24.90% from 2025. The BIAS Rail's extended service to Caruban Station in Madiun Regency further broadens access to air transportation hubs for residents in the Solo Raya and Madiun areas.
