Nearly half a billion soms saved on Manas sports complex construction

Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Construction has announced substantial savings in the development of a new sports complex in Manas, amounting to nearly 500 million soms. Minister Nurdane Oruntaev revealed that the project's initial cost estimate of 3.1 billion soms was revised down to 2.6 billion soms after a thorough reassessment.

Oruntaev emphasized the significance of these savings, noting that the 500 million soms could fund the construction of a large school capable of accommodating 750 students. He explained that upon taking over the project, ministry specialists recalculated the design and material costs. They discovered that certain initial estimates for materials and components were significantly inflated, leading to the overall reduction in the project's total cost.

Construction work on the complex is ongoing, with a substantial portion of concrete work completed and metal structures being delivered. The minister acknowledged that the installation of the complex's roof structure, which requires complex engineering solutions due to its large, column-free span, might appear to slow progress. However, he assured that work continues at full capacity.

Further funding is allocated for the project, with plans to invest an additional 1.6 billion soms. Oruntaev reiterated that the final calculated cost remains around 2.6 billion soms, a considerable decrease from the initial 3.1 billion soms projection, underscoring the success of the cost-saving measures implemented by the ministry.
