Nearly three weeks after deadly clash, Israel demolishes West Bank house

An Israeli military operation resulted in the controlled demolition of a three-story building in the West Bank village of Tel, near Nablus, almost three weeks after a fatal confrontation. Footage shows the building being brought down by a controlled explosion. The owner of the structure was killed last month during clashes with Israeli settlers and soldiers. According to the Israeli military, he had stolen a weapon from a security officer and opened fire on Israelis, resulting in the deaths of an officer and a civil defense force member. The Palestinian Health Ministry reported that Israeli soldiers killed a total of four Palestinians during that incident. The situation in the occupied West Bank has significantly worsened since Hamas's attacks on Israel on October 7 and the subsequent war in Gaza. The Palestinian Health Ministry states that over 1,100 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank by Israeli military operations, armed clashes, and settler attacks since that date. Additionally, incidents of violence by radical Israeli settlers against Palestinians have sharply increased. The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs attributes the escalating "settler terrorism" to direct protection, political support, and complete impunity provided by the Israeli government and military. Israel gained control of the West Bank and East Jerusalem during the 1967 Six-Day War. Approximately 700,000 Israeli settlers now live there alongside 3 million Palestinians. Palestinians seek these territories for their own state, a demand Israel rejects.
