Nepal beat China by 19 runs in Women’s Asian Games T20 Qualifier

Nepal secured a significant 19-run victory over China in the Women's Asian Games T20 Qualifier, propelling them to the top of Group B. The win was anchored by a stellar half-century from Puja Mahato, who played a pivotal role in setting a competitive target for the Chinese team.

Nepal elected to bat after winning the toss, compiling a total of 125 for five in their allotted 20 overs. Mahato was the standout performer, scoring 63 runs off 57 balls, including six boundaries. Her innings was crucial in consolidating Nepal's position, featuring a 37-run partnership with Sony Pakhrin and a substantial 64-run stand with Rubi Poddar, who contributed 22 runs.

Chasing a target of 126, China struggled to build momentum and was ultimately held to 106 for five. Nepal's bowlers tightened their control in the latter stages of the match, preventing China from reaching the required score. Riya Sharma was instrumental in Nepal's bowling effort, taking two wickets for 18 runs, supported by Manisha Upadhyay, Kabita Kunwar, and Mahato, who each claimed a wicket.

The victory places Nepal in a strong position in Group B, with two points, matching China's tally but surpassing them on net run rate. China had previously defeated Indonesia, who are yet to secure any points.
