Nepal Cabinet to donate salaries for flood relief

Nepal's prime minister and all Cabinet members will donate one month's salary to the Prime Minister’s Natural Disaster Relief Fund. This decision aims to bolster support for ongoing relief efforts following recent flooding.

The Cabinet made this decision during a meeting at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers. In addition to the salary donations, the Cabinet directed the finance ministry to develop a comprehensive relief, concessional financing, and rehabilitation package. This package is intended for individuals and businesses impacted by the floods that occurred along the Nepal-China border in Rasuwa, including the Rasuwagadhi area and downstream along the Bhotekoshi River.

Rescue and relief operations are continuing in the affected border regions, which experienced widespread damage. In a separate decision, the Cabinet granted in-principle approval for the Agricultural Inputs Company Ltd to procure 25,000 metric tonnes of diammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer. This purchase will be made from India through a government-to-government arrangement, ensuring adequate fertilizer supplies for farmers ahead of the planting season.
