Nepal forms emergency team to find foreign nationals missing in Rasuwa flood

Nepal's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has established an Emergency Response Team (ERT) to manage the search and rescue operations for foreign nationals missing in the recent flooding of the Bhotekoshi River in the Rasuwa district. The ministry confirmed on Thursday that reports indicated several foreigners were among those unaccounted for following the disaster.

The ERT will function as the central coordinating body for the ministry, tasked with overseeing the search and rescue of foreign nationals, verifying gathered information, and offering consular assistance. This initiative aims to streamline efforts and ensure timely support for those affected and their families.

According to the ministry's statement, the team will focus on collecting details about foreign nationals impacted by the flood, liaising with relevant authorities, and facilitating the communication of necessary information to the families and diplomatic missions of the missing individuals.

In a public appeal, the ministry urged foreign diplomatic missions, international organizations, families of those missing, and the general public to share any available information about foreign nationals affected or missing in the Rasuwa flood. The ERT has provided emergency hotlines and WhatsApp numbers (9744441227 and 9744441228), as well as an email address (emergency@mofa.gov.np) for submitting information.
