Nepal Needs the World, but Nepal Must Build Nepal

The recent floods in Rasuwa have once again reminded Nepal of how vulnerable it remains to disasters. Families have lost their homes and livelihoods, while infrastructure has suffered damage.

Communities are now waiting for relief. Beyond that immediate assistance lies the longer and more difficult task of recovery and reconstruction.

At such a time, the generosity of people, organisations and countries is important. But the central message is that Nepal needs to build Nepal, taking responsibility for its own recovery while accepting help from the wider world.
