Nepal Roads Blocked by Floods and Landslides After Heavy Rains

Roads across Nepal are facing significant disruptions due to continuous rainfall, leading to flooding, landslides, and debris accumulation. As of Tuesday morning, police reported obstructions on various road sections in districts including Kavrepalanchok, Sindhuli, Makawanpur, Nuwakot, Ilam, Sindhupalchok, Rasuwa, and Rukum West.

The BP Highway, a crucial artery, has seen vehicular movement restricted from 6 PM to 4 AM daily due to flood risks. Similarly, the Kanti Lokpath in Makawanpur prohibits all vehicle types from 5 PM to 5 AM. In Nuwakot, the Tokha-Chhahare road section has a nighttime ban on public and private vehicles, excluding essential services.

The Mechi Highway in Ilam is completely blocked by mud, though an alternative route is available. The Araniko Highway in Sindhupalchok is impassable due to a landslide and river debris. In Rasuwa, the Trishuli River's erosion has blocked the Trishuli–Mailung–Syafrubesi road. The Jajarkot-Dolpa road section in Rukum West is also blocked by fallen debris. Nepal Police urges travelers to exercise extreme caution on these affected routes.
