Netanya youth attacked by group of 20 teenagers in Eilat after refusing to give away cigarette

A young man from Netanya, identified as Eliya Nahum, was subjected to a brutal assault by a group of approximately 20 teenagers on the Eilat promenade. The attack occurred last Wednesday evening after Nahum refused a request to give a cigarette to one of the teenagers, which was reportedly intended for a female friend.

Following Nahum's refusal, the teenager's friends joined in, launching a severe beating. Witnesses reported that Nahum was punched, kicked, and assaulted by the large group. His friend attempted to intervene but was pushed away by the attackers, who continued their assault on Nahum.

A Magen David Adom team responded to the scene and transported Nahum to Yoseftal Medical Center. Medical professionals determined he had sustained a dislocated shoulder, bleeding, and severe injuries across his body. After initial treatment in Eilat, he traveled to Netanya for further examinations at Laniado Hospital, where he was released while still experiencing pain from his injuries.

Israel Police initiated an investigation into the incident upon receiving Nahum's complaint. The investigation involved collecting testimony, evidence, and scene findings. Subsequently, six teenagers suspected of participating in the violent attack were arrested. They appeared before the Eilat Magistrate's Court, where their detention was extended under restrictive conditions, including house arrest. The police investigation is ongoing to identify and bring all involved individuals to justice.
