Netballer Nina Nakula balances studies and elite sport for World Cup qualifiers

Crest Fiji Pearls midcourter Nina Nakula is embracing the demanding challenge of balancing her university studies with elite netball commitments as she prepares for the upcoming Netball World Cup qualifiers in Tonga. The University of the South Pacific student views her selection to the national squad as a significant honor and a valuable opportunity.

Nakula expressed her deep gratitude for being named in the Fiji Pearls squad, stating, "It means so much to be selected to be part of the qualifiers team that is going to Tonga. I’m grateful for the opportunity and for the belief that we’re going to be fighting for a place in the top two to qualify for the World Cup." She highlighted the team's determination to secure one of the coveted qualification spots.

While Nakula has been actively involved in the Pearls' preparations, she openly admits the difficulty in managing her academic responsibilities alongside her netball schedule. "It’s been a challenge juggling sports and academics, but I’m up for any challenge and the mountains that come with it," she stated. Despite the hurdles, Nakula remains focused on contributing to the team's success in Tonga and achieving their goal of qualifying for the Netball World Cup.
