New 8-km road opens in Al Jabal Al Akhdar

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) in Oman has opened an 8-kilometer stretch of the upgraded Siya–Qutnah Road in Al Jabal Al Akhdar Governorate. This development marks a significant step toward enhancing connectivity and bolstering tourism in one of the country's most frequented mountain destinations.

The newly accessible road section is part of a larger 9-kilometer enhancement project. It begins near the main Al Jabal Al Akhdar road, opposite the Dusit Hotel, and extends to the Al Makhb area, traversing through Shanut. The ministry has equipped the road with extensive traffic safety features, including steel guardrails, concrete barriers, and clear directional and warning signage to ensure the safety of all road users.

Officials anticipate that the improved road will stimulate tourism in Al Jabal Al Akhdar by providing easier and safer access to its numerous attractions and residential areas. The upgrade is also expected to streamline traffic flow and decrease travel durations for both visitors and locals. This initiative aligns with the ministry's broader objectives to develop the nation's transport infrastructure, elevate road safety standards, and foster economic growth through enhanced accessibility to key tourism and residential zones.
