New Bridge in Maros Symbolizes State's Care for Community

The inauguration of the Jembatan Perintis Garuda Merah Putih in Tompobulu District, Maros Regency, South Sulawesi, signifies a tangible demonstration of the Indonesian state's commitment to its citizens. Pangdam XIV/Hasanuddin, Major General TNI Bangun Nawoko, stated that the bridge is a "real manifestation of the state's care for the community," designed to enhance safety and the quality of life for residents who previously faced risks crossing the river, especially during the rainy season.

Major General Nawoko expressed his gratitude to the soldiers and the community for their collaborative efforts in constructing the bridge. "Today, with the presence of the Jembatan Perintis Garuda Merah Putih, hopefully, danger will no longer stalk our children, our mothers, and all the community members at all times," he remarked during the ceremony.

Maros Regent Chaidir Syam echoed these sentiments, thanking the military for providing a much-needed infrastructure. He highlighted the bridge's expected benefits, including easier resident mobility, smoother access to education, faster distribution of agricultural products, and the unlocking of tourism potential in the region. "This bridge will bring extraordinary benefits to the community. Children can now go to school more safely, residents can reach their fields more easily, and economic activities will grow further," Syam stated.

The successful completion and inauguration of the bridge serve as a testament to the effective collaboration between the government, the TNI (Indonesian National Armed Forces), and the local community in addressing the essential needs of the residents. The project is anticipated to significantly improve daily life and economic opportunities for the people of Tompobulu.
