New bus shelter creates covered link to Ben Thanh Metro station

A new 12-meter bus shelter on Pham Ngu Lao Street gives passengers a covered route between central bus services and Ben Thanh Metro station.

The N02 shelter stands near the starting points of several central-city bus routes, in an area heavily used by residents, tourists and public-transport passengers. Its roof connects with the covered pedestrian route from Pham Ngu Lao and Le Lai streets to the metro station.

Passengers can leave a bus and walk to the station without standing in the sun or rain. The project forms part of Ho Chi Minh City's plan, launched July 1, 2026, to build and improve bus infrastructure.

Public transport in Ho Chi Minh City is very developed, with connections between different modes, so getting around is fairly easy.

As of Sept. 3, the city had installed 14 shelters under the new designs: five N03 shelters measuring 3 meters, eight N01 shelters measuring 6 meters and one 12-meter N02 shelter. The N02 shelter on Pham Ngu Lao is the largest of the new installations.

The city has also been repairing bus stops, adding route information, greenery and lighting. It had repainted or maintained markings at 1,502 stop locations, repaired 445 stop poles and 152 shelters, and updated route information and guidance at 1,580 stops. Passenger Dao Ngoc Thanh said the covered walkway made transfers more convenient, especially in hot or rainy weather.
