New champion guaranteed at Secondary Schools Championship

The 2026 Extra Fiji Secondary Schools Football Championship is poised to introduce new champions in two key divisions, as defending titleholders have been eliminated from contention. Fiji Secondary Schools Football Association president Aminesh Ram announced that this year's qualification rounds were exceptionally competitive, leading to the absence of several traditionally strong teams.

Ram confirmed that a total of 56 teams will participate across four grades: 20 in the Under-19 category, 20 in the girls' division, eight in the Under-15, and eight in the Under-17 boys' categories. Notable absentees from the tournament include former regular participants Kamil Muslim College and Natabua High School.

This year, we again have 56 teams, 20 Under-19, 20 girls, eight Under-15 and eight Under-17 boys teams.

Specifically, defending champions Tabia College could not secure qualification to defend their Under-19 title, meaning a new champion will emerge in that grade. Similarly, Labasa College failed to qualify for the Under-17 competition, guaranteeing a new winner in that division as well.

Adding a new dynamic to the tournament, Lautoka Muslim College has qualified for the Under-19 division for the first time. Schools from across Fiji are set to compete for national honors in this highly anticipated championship.
