New Chief Appointed to Head Poland's Central Bureau of Investigation Police

Centralne Biuro Śledcze Policji (CBŚP), Poland's Central Bureau of Investigation Police, has appointed Insp. Gen. Kamil Borkowski as its new head. Borkowski brings three decades of policing experience, with a career largely dedicated to dismantling organized crime groups.

Borkowski succeeds Cezary Luba, who has been appointed as a deputy chief of the Central Anticorruption Bureau (CBA) at the request of the CBA's head. The CBŚP noted Borkowski's extensive experience, highlighting his two decades of service within the CBŚP itself. During this time, he tackled complex tasks against criminal organizations operating both domestically and internationally.

The CBŚP emphasized the critical importance of experience, knowledge, and effective leadership in today's fight against sophisticated criminal networks that increasingly leverage new technologies and international connections. These attributes, the bureau stated, are fundamental to combating the most dangerous forms of crime.

Borkowski's career began in 1996. He has held various significant positions, including head of the Economic Crime Combat Department of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Radom, head of the CBŚP's Radom branch, deputy Provincial Police Commander in Radom, and Provincial Police Commander in Białystok. He has also received state and ministerial awards, such as the Bronze Medal for Long Service and the Bronze and Gold Badges for Meritorious Police Officer.
