New claims emerge in Güllü death case as former fiancé speaks

New allegations have emerged shortly before the first hearing in the case over the death of Turkish singer Güllü, who died after falling from the window of her sixth-floor home in Çınarcık, Yalova.

Kervan Eminoğlu, the former fiancé of Güllü’s daughter, Tuğyan Ülkem Gülter, told ATV Haber that Tuğyan had previously described a difficult relationship with her mother. Eminoğlu said she had told him, “My mother left us, and my grandmother raised me.” He also alleged that Tuğyan felt anger toward Güllü.

Eminoğlu further claimed that Tuğyan took money from her mother shortly before Güllü’s death. He said Tuğyan came to Istanbul with him on Sept. 19 and asked for another chance, adding that she and a person identified as Çiğdem had taken 4,000 Turkish lira from her mother. Tuğyan’s account of that allegation was not included.

He also alleged that Güllü changed the home’s door code several days before her death and did not give the new code to her daughter. Eminoğlu said Tuğyan told him, “My mother changed the card, and she won’t give me the code. She is also telling me not to come home.” He claimed the mother and daughter later argued at the door and that Tuğyan recorded a video lasting about an hour and a half to complain about her mother to relatives.

The report also cited a message allegedly sent by Tuğyan three days before Güllü’s death: “I told my mother I will receive psychological treatment. For myself, for you, for us. Look, I will see a doctor. Maybe there is something from my childhood. I will take medication, I don’t know, the doctor will talk to me and I will get better.” Prosecutors have reportedly charged Gülter with the intentional premeditated killing of an ascendant and sought an aggravated life sentence. She is expected to appear in court for the first time on Oct. 1.
